The main objective of this symposium is to foster communication among scientists, social scientists, engineers, and practitioners in order to increase understanding of and better ways to deal with tropical cyclone risks. Tropical cyclone risk refers to the potential for damage or loss caused by tropical cyclones, including wind, flooding, storm surge, and other related hazards. Damages and losses are for instance (but not limited to) proprietary or economical damages, impacts to (critical) infrastructure and trade networks, as well as impacts to human life, nature and ecosystems.
