Accommodations

Accommodations for the conference are at the JW Marriott, Clearwater Beach.

Airport

There are 2 near-by airports:


Orlando airport can be cheaper sometimes than Tampa but is further away.  Possibly 2.5 hours or so depending on traffic.


Parking

The JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa offers Valet only parking to their hotel guests.  Parking rates are currently Overnight Valet: $45.00, Day Valet: $35.00. Plus tax.   Parking rates are subject to change.  Please note that all Guests & Vendors are responsible for their own parking charges.


Arrival and Check-in

It is expected that attendees will arrive/check-in after 4:00 PM. Check out is 11:00 AM.


Conference Venue

The Conference room is located at the hotel in Pallavi Ballroom 


Conference Registration

Come by the registration desk. During the conference sessions this will be located inside the Pallavi Ballroom .


Welcome Reception Location (May 31st Starting 6 pm)

Oral Presentations

Speakers need to submit their presentation by May 28th at 5pm eastern to the Presentation link (Link will be provided near the date).


Lunches/Informal Discussions

Lunches for registered participants and registered accompanying persons will be served during the times indicated in the program and only after the session has finished. Badges are required for admission.


Dinners/Informal Discussions

A welcome dinner on June 1 and a farewell gala on June 3rd is include in registration during the times indicated in the program. Vegetarian entrees are available only upon request in advance of the meeting. Please contact Yijie Zhu to request this at the time of your registration yijiezhu@fau.edu. On other days, dinner is not included in the registration to allow participants a less structured time so they can organize smaller group dinners.


Internet, Phone, & Computer

Wireless Internet access is located throughout the conference center and the hotel room free of charge. Phone service is available for an additional charge to the hotel from your hotel room.


Passport and Visa

Participants are advised to check on their individual requirements before attending this meeting. Visa applications should be filed at the nearest American Embassy in the country in which you are resident. It is recommended you do this NOW to allow you to get your visa.  Some participants could not come in years past due to visa's not being processed in time.


Letters of Confirmation

Note: Letters confirming your invitation to attend this meeting will be issued upon request only to: Authors of accepted abstracts who are fully paid registrants. A request should be submitted to yijiezhu@fau.edu


Liability and Insurance

Neither the organizers, nor the American Association of Geographers will assume any responsibility whatsoever for damage or injury to persons or property during meeting period. Participants are advised to arrange their own personal travel and health insurance.


No Photographs and Recording Devices

Participants are not allowed to photograph and/or record using cameras, mobile telephones and other recording devices during any conference presentation.

The symposium will take pictures and share them.  All participants will be required to acknowledge if they agree to be photographed.


Conduct Policy

Registrants must agree to follow the AAG Event and Conduct Policies which is part of the registration.


Other Information

Badges are required for admission to all events.

All conference events are non-smoking.


Resort Fee

We have negotiated a reduced resort fee (which is included in hotel registration so you will not pay extra).

The resort fee covers the following which you are entitled to:


Transport Locally Clearwater Beach Trolly (small fee)

Called the Jolly Trolley Clearwater Jolley Trolley 

Pick-up: Across the street (2 min walk)

Goes north to Northside (main Clearwater Beach)

and goes Southside (Sand Key area)


Free Transport Locally 

Moke (based on valet availability - they will take you. Go to Valet stand.  They can take 3 guests plus the valet).  Please note there is only one Moke/valet at a time.

Drops off a mile north of hotel towards the main CW beach area.
