Airport and Transport
Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP) is the nearest international airport. The hotel is a 90-minute ride from there. Cabs can be found at the airport. You can also rent a car.
It is easy to travel by train from Malpensa to Locarno. You can rent a car from Locarno https://www.europcar.ch/en-ch/places/car-rental-worldwide (note they are not open on Sundays).
Visa
Please refer to the Swiss government’s visa application and eligibility website (link below) to verify whether a visa is required for travel to Switzerland (Schengen Area).

Arrival and Check-in
It is expected that attendees will arrive/check-in after 4:00 PM. Check out is 11:00 AM.

Oral Presentations
Speakers need to submit their presentation by June 4th 5 pm eastern to the Presentation link (Link will be provided near the date).
Lunches/Informal Discussions
Lunches for registered participants and registered accompanying persons will be served during the times indicated in the program and only after the session has finished. Badges are required for admission.
Breakfast/Dinners/Informal Discussions
Arrival is Monday June 7th. A welcome Apéro riche at 6pm will be served in Sala Balint. There will be a complimentary welcome drink and a cash bar, as well as an assortment of appetizers.
Breakfasts will be 7-8am Tuesday through Friday.
There is a welcome dinner on Tuesday 8th and a farewell gala on Thursday 10th. There is a cash bar available at 6pm and we will have dinner at 7pm. Wednesday 9th, dinner will be in town at Grotto Broggini in Losone as part of the field trip (approx. 7pm). These meals are included in your registration.
Vegetarian/Vegan entrees are available only upon request in advance of the meeting. Please contact Yijie Zhu to request this at the time of your registration yijiezhu@fau.edu. On other days, dinner is not included in the registration to allow participants a less structured time so they can organize smaller group dinners.
Field Trip
There will be an included networking field trip to Cardada – Cimetta with dinner that evening at Grotto Broggini
This excursion offers a spectacular panorama over Lake Maggiore.
Cardada – Cimetta (1400 – 1700 m) is only 30 minutes above Locarno and offers a spectacular 360° panoramic view over Lake Maggiore. The climbing is by cable car, the new one designed by the architect Mario Botta, and by chair lift (hike optional)

2.00 pm Departure by bus from Monte Verità
2.30 pm Arrival at Orselina and departure by cable-car to Cardada-Colmanicchio
3.00 pm Hike to Cimetta (or by chair lift) . There is a 10 minute walk to chairlift. Those who do not walk/cannot walk at all there is a restaurant on top of the cable car. Please note though that we eat as a group at 7pm.
6.15 pm~ Meeting at Colmanicchio and departure to Orselina by cable car
7.00 pm Dinner at Grotto Broggini in Losone
10.00 pm Departure by bus to Monte Verità
10.15 pm Arrival at Monte Verità
Conduct Policy
Registrants must agree to follow our code of Conduct Policies which is taken from the American Association of Geographer’s code of conduct policy, which is part of the registration.
Internet, Phone, & Computer
Wireless Internet access is located throughout the conference center and the hotel room free of charge. Phone service is available for an additional charge to the hotel from your hotel room.
Passport and Visa
Participants are advised to check on their individual requirements before attending this meeting. It is recommended you do this NOW to allow you to get your visa. Some participants could not come in years past due to visa's not being processed in time.
Letters of Confirmation
Note: Letters confirming your invitation to attend this meeting will be issued upon request only to: Authors of accepted abstracts who are fully paid registrants. A request should be submitted to yijiezhu@fau.edu
Liability and Insurance
The organizers will not assume any responsibility whatsoever for damage or injury to persons or property during meeting period. Participants are advised to arrange their own personal travel and health insurance.
No Photographs or Recording Devices
Participants are not allowed to photograph and/or record using cameras, mobile telephones and other recording devices during any conference presentation.
The symposium will take pictures and share them. All participants will be required to acknowledge if they agree to be photographed.
Conduct Policy
Registrants must agree to follow the AAG Event and Conduct Policies which is part of the registration.
Other Information
Badges are required for admission to all events.
All conference events are non-smoking.
